How Non-Dealers BUY a Vehicle - Overview

Non-Dealers who wish to buy a vehicle should follow these highlighted instructions: (complete Policies & Procedures can be found at the link with the same name)

  • Upon arrival at the auction, the Registration process will require your $300 CASH deposit. You and one guest will receive a sticker with a number and a guest sticker which will allow you and your guest to walk the lot and inspect the vehicles offered for auction.

Non-Dealer Buy and Sell fees:

• Up to $2,000 = $200 per unit

• $2,001 - $5,000 = $250 per unit

• $5,001 - $10,000 = $300 per unit

• $10,001 - $25,000 = $400 per unit

• $25,001 and over = $500 per unit

If you are a successful bidder, you must immediately sign the Bill of Sale as printed at the auction block. Additionally, you will surrender your number/sticker to the clerk. If you wish to bid on any other vehicles, you must return to Registration and deposit another $300 cash.

  1. If your bid price is $1,000 or more under the Green Light (Ride and Drive), you have one hour to test drive the vehicle on Kirby property. If you discover a mechanical problem, please go to Arbitration inside the inner arena at the appropriately marked line.
  • Arbitration Process: Proceed to Arbitration Line in inner arena and tell the representative what you think is wrong. The Arbitrator then inspects/drives the vehicle. For the vehicle to be Turned Down, the vehicle must be mechanically sound (except Jeep products) up to $500. If the Arbitrator determines the repair cost to be less than $500, you are obligated to purchase the vehicle.
    1. Listen to the announcements – a dealer may sell a vehicle without the title present – we refer to this as “Title Absent.” A dealer has up to 30 days to produce a title but the vehicle may not leave the premise until title is produced to the Auction. If you need a vehicle quickly, like sale night, it is our recommendation that you do NOT bid on a Title Absent, or T/A vehicle.
    2. A vehicle will be offered in the following manner: Ride and Drive, Title Absent, Caution (means listen to the announcement, like Rebuilt Title or True Miles Unknown, or other remarks) and As Is (means once the hammer falls, the vehicle is yours, no matter what the circumstance).
    3. You may then proceed to the Title Line to complete payment in cash and paperwork, provided the title is present. Non-Dealers must complete payment in CASH by Thursdays at 4:00 pm. If full payment is not received, the $300 cash deposit will be forfeited by the Non-Dealer.
    4. After you sign your completed title and paperwork, it is the responsibility of the Non-Dealer to complete the transfer at your county clerk or DMV office. That is where you pay tax and transfer fees and apply for license plate. Finally, you will receive your new title in the mail from your state titling commission.
